3rd IAC Meeting Successfully Held in Bangkok


NSTDA held its 3rd International Advisory Committee (IAC) Meeting at the Plaza Athenee Hotel in Bangkok on June 4-5, 2009. The meeting reviewed NSTDA’s current policy direction, and discussed options to assist NSTDA researchers in achieving R&D excellence with industrial relevance. The meeting also discussed the importance of raising the international profile of NSTDA research in order to leverage international networks and funding.

The IAC members who attended this meeting were Prof. Teruo Kishi, President of the National Institute for Materials Science, Japan, Prof. Ken-ichi Arai, Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, Japan, Prof. Rudolf Aebersold, Professor of Systems Biology, Institut f?r Molekulare Systembiologie, Switzerland, Dr. Michael Raymont, CEO of EnergyINet Inc., Canada, and Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies Limited, India.

The establishment of IAC has been a major effort on the part of NSTDA to expand its international connections and activities, and to seek the advice of internationally renowned strategists, administrators, advisors, and scientists to assist in the setting of NSTDA’s strategic and operational goals. In addition the IAC is helping to strengthen collaborative partnerships in scientific and technological planning as well as in implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
